Frugal Fridays #24 and a FANTASTIC deal!

Napkins-Frugal Fridays

Successes:

  1. I successfully stayed away from Starbucks. :) I don’t really go there often (once every other month … usually even less than that). But I was tempted by their Happy Hour. I resisted temptation and made some delicious iced coffee at home instead.
  2. I made homemade rolls for our pulled pork dinner.
  3. I hung laundry to dry in the beautiful sunshine rather than using our dryer.
  4. I harvested dandelions to make infused oil with. I’ll use that oil for a healing salve. I also plan to harvest more for dandelion jelly.
  5. I started some calendula infused oil (also for salve). I buy dried calendula here.
  6. For that fantastic deal I mentioned: I’ve been waiting for several months for Zulily to have a sale on ErgoBaby carriers. A friend of mine clued me in that they run the sale once a year or so after hearing me say that I’ve always wanted one, but couldn’t bring myself to pay $120+. I saw the sale today and purchased one for $69!! I can’t wait for it to come.
  7. I have been doing mega deep Spring Cleaning around here. I’ve been using a cleaning solution of water, vinegar, and lemon essential oil for just about everything. It’s smelling so fresh and clean around here! It’ll probably take me a month to get through my entire house because I can’t dedicate entire days to housework. I have kiddos to homeschool, munchkins to cuddle, and that precious newbie of mine to nurse (constantly). Not to mention the other daily stuff that we all do on a regular basis.
  8. I’ve been enjoying the All American Homestead channel on Roku for free.
  9. I downloaded a few free books using the Kindle app on my iPad, including:
    1. Off the Grid Living (Free at the time of this posting)
    2. Marriage Matters: Extraordinary Change through Ordinary Moments (Free at the time of this posting)
    3. Urban Homesteading (Now $2.99)

Goals:

  1. Continue working in the garden planting as weather/life allows.
  2. Begin a shopping list and menu plan. I’ll be doing a monthly shopping trip next weekend sometime. This will include a trip out to the Amish bulk foods store for some storage items.
  3. Continue hanging laundry outside as weather permits. I no longer have drying racks (mine have all fallen apart after much abuse), so I’m not able to dry stuff inside at the moment. Though I’ve been drooling over these Homesteader Drying racks for the last 2 years. Some day ….
